Terms of Service
Effective October 24, 2026
These terms apply to Build-Signs.work and to the sign builders it links to: Road-Signs.work, Trail-Signs.work, Park-Signs.work, Airport-Signs.work, Safety-Signs.work and Railroad-Signs.work (together, “the sites”), and to the sign service those sites share. By using any of the sites you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the sites.
The service
The sites are free tools for designing sign images and downloading them. You don’t need an account. We may add, change or remove features, or take a site offline, at any time and without notice.
Signs you make
The sign designs follow public-domain government standards, and the sign images the builders generate are public domain too: you may use, copy, modify and redistribute them for any purpose, commercial or otherwise, with no attribution required. We don’t claim ownership of the text you type onto a sign. You are responsible for that text and for how you use the result.
Not for official use without checking
The sites make images. They do not make certified traffic control devices, airfield signs or safety signs. A sign put up on a public road, an airfield or a workplace has to meet rules the sites cannot check for you: approval by the agency responsible, retroreflective materials, mounting height, illumination, and listings such as UL 924 for exit signs. Before you use a sign for one of these jobs, check it against the current edition of the governing standard and with the authority responsible for it. The sites are not legal or engineering advice.
Acceptable use
Please don’t:
- use a sign to deceive people, impersonate a government agency or business, or suggest an endorsement that doesn’t exist;
- put up a fake sign where it could mislead drivers, pilots, workers or the public, or create a hazard;
- use the sites to make content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or that infringes someone else’s rights;
- overload, scrape at high volume, probe or interfere with the sites or the sign service, or get around their rate limits.
We may block requests or access that break these rules.
Names and third-party material
The site names and the signpost brandmark identify the sites. Please don’t use them in a way that suggests we made or endorse something we didn’t. Third-party material, such as fonts and pictographs, is used under its own license and credited on each site’s Acknowledgements page.
Third-party services
Some sites link to products printed and sold by Zazzle. Those purchases are between you and Zazzle, under Zazzle’s terms, and we earn a commission on them. The sites are hosted by Vercel and use Google Analytics, as described in the Privacy Policy. We aren’t responsible for third-party sites or services.
No warranty
The sites are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don’t promise that a sign is correct, complete or meets any standard, or that the sites will be available or free of errors.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the sites or of a sign you made with them. The sites are free, so our total liability for any claim is limited to zero dollars where the law allows it, and otherwise to the smallest amount the law allows.
Indemnity
If someone makes a claim against us because of a sign you made or how you used the sites in breach of these terms, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim.
Changes
We may update these terms. The effective date above changes when we do, and continuing to use the sites after a change means you accept the new terms.
